Tales From The Night Garden

Tales From the Night Garden is a series that I am co-writing with Auden Eris-Everen. I am the artist for the entire series, and have a mix of concept art and illustration to be able to peruse. I also designed the book cover and did all of the interior design and formatting.

If the book series does well, I plan on releasing an expanded lore book with a lot of the art and character facts fleshed out for readers! This is my main project, so it is one of the bigger projects in my portfolio.

☼ LEMON BALM'S ILLUSTRATIONS ☼

Acanthus' Mental Gate

I knew that for the printed version of the books, I wanted to have illustrations at some key points. So, I picked those points and set out to draw them all in my heavy line art, black and white high-contrast style.

The Night Garden has a lot of garden imagery, and also internal dreamscapes and exploration. This doesn’t show up too much in Lemon Balm, but I wanted to draw Acanthus’ inner mental gate for the title page. People may not understand it right now, but once we have more of the books published, it will make more sense.

Acanthus Sylene

Acanthus is a character with a calming presence and a calculating mind. So, I drew this to put on the trigger warning page.

Church 1 - Acanthus' Hideout

This place is pretty far into the Catskills off of a gravel road, so Cypress was surprised to find what he thinks is a squatter in his new home. Here, he's finds lights on and candles in every window.

The Yellow Rose - Flower Crown

This is a pretty intense moment about 2/3rds of the way through the book. It’s a ritual that's done at the Yellow Rose, breaking a fairly powerful spell that was harming Cypress.

Acanthus' Frenzy

This is very near the end of the book. The pressure gets too great for Acanthus and they lose control, causing a massive wave of death in the woods. They cannot bear it and tell Cypress to leave them behind.
